FRICTION - Translation in Swedish - bab.la

Tribological testing conditions chosen in this study were designed to produce boundary lubrication. It has been shown here that the addition of a relatively small concentration of PMMA particles in dodecane is enough to dramatically reduce the friction coefficient measured. 4.4.1. Scanning electron microscopy of the tribotested steel plates A ball-on-disk-test configuration was chosen for the tribological experiments as it is a versatile test allowing different counter body materials and parameters (load, sliding velocity, number of revolutions, etc.) to be adjusted in a controlled way. The schematic diagram of the experimental device: (a) tribological test and (b) electrochemical test.

Tribological testing and analysis of metallurgical-grade cokes were conducted to elucidate the nature of the surface of each coke and the influence of the surface on coke abrasion resistance. The coefficient of friction (COF) was contrasted between cokes of different coal origins. ISO 19291:2016 describes test methods based on a high-frequency, linear-oscillation test machine to determine tribological quantities like friction, wear, load carrying capacity and extreme pressure behaviour of liquid lubricants (oils) and consistent lubricants (greases) in … Another important goal of tribological testing is to increase the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of friction and wear behaviour, through detailed investigations of the contact surfaces. Often such investigations require sophisticated electron microscopy and advanced surface analysis. Tribology testing generates critical information regarding the failure mechanisms of mechanical components, resulting in solutions that improve performance and/or lower costs.

More fundamentally, tribology is concerned with the interaction of contacting surfaces in relative motion. Friction is the resisting tangential force that occurs between two surfaces in contact when they move or tend to move relative to one another. Unlike rheology testing, where the sample under test is held in a defined gap between surfaces moving relative to each other, tribology testing entails bringing those surfaces into contact under a defined pressure and sliding one against the other, measuring the frictional drag over a range of sliding speeds.

The UMT TriboLab™ is different, with a versatile modular design which allows it to be transformed from rotary to reciprocating motion, from sub-newton to kilo-newton force measurement, or from room temperature up to 1000°C for environmental testing, all within minutes. Tribological testing and analysis of metallurgical-grade cokes were conducted to elucidate the nature of the surface of each coke and the influence of the surface on coke abrasion resistance. The coefficient of friction (COF) was contrasted between cokes of different coal origins. The results indicate that the COF increases with (i) parent coal vitrinite content and (ii) decreasing rank of the Many tribological interfaces are subject to very high loads and, more importantly, high pressures. In these cases, the bodies themselves deform elastically, which can facilitate sliding in a lubricated interface.

As a result, parameters used to characterize the friction, wear, and lubrication of a material are system properties of the material, not intrinsic properties such as an elastic modulus or coefficient of thermal expansion.

The results showed that the TiNi/MoS2 functional coating had great tribological properties. S/Mo ratio and thickness and hardness values of the coatings directly affected tribological properties. Tribology testing generates critical information regarding the failure mechanisms of mechanical components, resulting in solutions that improve performance and/or lower costs. This testing can be done under three different sets of conditions: Testing on sample coupons. Another important goal of tribological testing is to increase the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of friction and wear behaviour, through detailed investigations of the contact surfaces.
